Napoleon Hill introduced and developed the idea of masterminding in the early 1900’s in his timeless classic book ‘Think and Grow Rich’. Although in reality I think we could probably attribute the concept to tribal leaders stretching back thousands of years.. Here is what Napoleon Hill defined as masterminding, and my 5 great reasons for joining a mastermind group

“The coordination of knowledge and effort of two or more people, who work toward a definite purpose, in the spirit of harmony.”

1- Synergy

We have all heard the expression ‘two heads are better than one’. Well in the case of a mastermind group 5 (or however many) heads are better that 2. On top of that you have the unquantifiable synergy that is created by group. The sum of the parts being greater than the whole, or, 2+2=5

Synergy

‘The interaction or cooperation of two or more organisations, substances, or other agents to produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effect’

Synergy is huge force of nature and not something to be underestimated. Once that energy starts rolling in your group, you will feel it. So be ready for it ! I know the group I am in has a huge amount of force and energy. Their is 5 of us and the other 4 people alone are great reasons for joining a mastermind group!  The amazing thing about our mastermind group is that we all work online. So we are spread out all over the world. England, Canada, Holland and New Zealand.

2 – Knowledge

Simple and straight forward knowledge . You may be in a group that has been created for a particular, subject, project or reason but the extra knowledge and life experience your group has comes as a bonus. I guarantee you will be surprised to find out things you never knew about people you thought you knew. I love this aspect as all of a sudden somebody will drop a little gem or nugget of information, or knowledge, that is totally unexpected.

3 – Accountability

Within your group you are accountable for honouring your commitments to each and every member of your group as they are to you. Accountability is a very strong motivator and driving force. Nobody will want to be the one to sat in front of your group saying they didn’t carry out their commitments. As a bonus you always have the support of the group to fall back on if you were unable to honour your commitments for some reason. It’s a win win situation.

4- Network.

When you join a mastermind group your network increases to include the network of all the people in your group. Suddenly something you have been having a problem with can be easily solved by somebody within your group or your groups network. This too will probably bring you many surprises when you realise how far your collective network stretches.

5 – Personal Growth

Or, getting out of your comfort zone and thinking bigger. We all have our limitations in certain areas. Other people in your group are likely to not have the same limitations. So the opportunity for you to grow in those areas simply by being pulled along with the crowd is always there. It may be uneasy at times but growth starts at the edge of your comfort zone. Likewise you will be able to do the same with the strengths you have that others don’t.

So there you have it 5 great reasons for joining a mastermind group. Mastermind groups don’t need to just be about business, they can be about anything – health, relationships, kids or any other subject you choose. What’s stopping you? Go ahead and join,or create, one today you have nothing to lose but a huge amount to gain.

Have a great day.
